Halo and RPG Top the List for Ultimate Gaming Experience, So Long As There's No Flicker

United Kingdom (PRWEB) February 29, 2008 -- With the launch of the Playstation 3, Wii and Xbox360, the gaming world has never had it so good. But what good is a high performance console if there's no TV (http://www.polaroid-definia.com/uk/home.html) that can make the most of its capabilities? According to new research released today, almost half of gamers (49%) rate a flickering or juddering image as the easiest way to ruin their gaming experience.

So what good is it playing the Halo Trilogy (a third of gamers picked this as the game they would most want to play on a high quality screen) and taking on the Covenant as Master Chief, when the hordes attacking you keep disappearing and then reappearing just in time to kill the plaayer? Slow refresh rates (one in five of those questioned) and a distorted picture (19%) are also major sources of irritation for the gaming community.

The Polaroid (http://www.polaroid-definia.com/uk/home.html) survey also asked the UK's gamers to reveal their favourite gaming genre - when it comes to making the most of TV technology to provide the ultimate gaming experience. Surprisingly, Role Playing Games (RPG) came out as their genre of choice, (35% of those questioned), ahead of shoot 'em ups (just under a quarter of those surveyed) and driving games (23%).

The research also asked gamers to identify the most important technological advances in the evolution of the TV. But, it was not higd definition (http://www.polaroid-definia.com/uk/home.html)(HD), as many may have thought; instead, the flat screen design came out top (with 34% of the vote). Less than a third of people felt it was HD (30%).
